The Economist Conference “World in 2018” was held on 14th of December 2017 in the House of National Assembly of Serbia, Belgrade, with participation of 200 people. It gathered the top officials and leaders of Serbian Government, Vojvodina`s Government, ambassadors, economists and CEOs from top 50 companies.
Key Conference Topics were: regional and local businesses from the perspective of Serbian companies, opportunities and challenges facing Serbian economy, the importance of cashless concept, new platforms for online shopping, shadow economy, infrastructure development, the power of energy sector in SEE.
Visa Cashless Session was an opportunity to put a spotlight on fight against shadow economy and show how electronic payments can help tackle the problem. During a panel discussion “50 shades of grey economy” Visa sat together with different parties and discuss the cashless as a concept that can help government take on Serbian massive shadow economy. Visa Cashless Session goal was to continue an open dialogue on the importance and impact of cashless economy in Serbia and explore the role of digitization in extending and expanding the reach of the electronic payments and enable new experience for customers and greater benefits for governments. During a panel discussion speakers put a spotlight on policies, trends and law implemented, while Visa stressed the importance of emerging technologies that are impacting Serbian financial services ecosystem, and could cut the shadow economy.
